Yee Haw!

Another week! I missed the "littles" this weekend! It's amazing how fast that starts to happen.

Let's catch up from Friday!
Using our "color" wall to help identify color words on our morning work!

SCIENCE EXPERIMENT:
Plate with milk

drops of food coloring

Q-tips soaked in dish soap

After touching the Q-tip to the food coloring

After several touches

towards the end!
We loved watching the color "explode and spread" when we touched it with the soap! Why did that happen?

Monday...

LANGUAGE ARTS
Today FLEW by...this morning we learned a new color poem.

Then we added some NEW sight words to our baggies. (Thank you so much to those that remembered to send those back today! You guys are the BEST!)
In our baggies we should have the following:
a, am, can, I, like, see, the, in, red and orange
If your child is missing any of these please just write them on a card and add them to their baggies! The other K teachers ASSURE me...the cutting, gluing and reviewing...will get easier! <wink> I think we are doing pretty well!
We played an "I Spy" game with our word wall this morning to review last weeks words!  "I spy a 4 letter word!" My kinders did a great job finding and reading the words! We are beginning to talk about beginning sounds. We also have been talking a lot about the letters make sounds and when we put those sounds together we get words!

Writers Workshop

Today we introduced a new tool to our "writing tool box" We put in an alphabet chart.  We did the alphabet chant and noticed that their were "labels" under each picture.. We then added these charts to our writing folder. It's AMAZING what the littles can do with a tool!

I went to the build a bear.

Daddy is working.
So impressed!

MATH
We started talking about equal sets today! Be sure to ask your little mathematician what it means to be equal in math.  We read the book Equal Smequal.

We created some sets of cubes that were equal.  Then we got in our math groups and practiced our 1-1 correspondence, subitizing, and numeral writing.

SCIENCE
We are starting a new unit of study...Our 5 Senses.  Today we just got started talking about what our eyes, ears, mouth nose and hands do for us! More to come...!

HOMEWORK

Today your little one came home with a piece of poster board. Attached should have been the following note.  PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use this poster board or one the same size for your child's All About Me poster.  If something happened and you need another just let me know!

I will keep these in the classroom until it is your child's Buckaroo Week!  I will post them in the classroom for awhile before sending them home!

Enjoy your evening!
